Kneeling position is not difficult. But it is very easy to make it difficult. It is a position with lots of variables and technical aspects compare to prone and standing. Yesterday a youth shooter came to me. “I have a competition in 1 and a 1/2 week. Make sure i shoot good”. So we went to the the range and the shooter sat down in kneeling position. The shooter had an ok position for being a junior. Instead of changing something in position i asked how the shooter were doing a shot. The atlethe explained and from my understanding of the explanation i came up with some task. My task was as follow: Do smooth trigger release while you are having a calm holding within the 9. Some of the shots will hit the 10 and few will go out of the 9. The reason for this task was that i noticed that the atlethe where trying to much to hit the 10 with to big holding so the shot could easily fall out in the 7 in worsed case. After the session i asked how the session was. “It was great, and relaxing. I was not focusing on the score but the trigger release and that helped me being more relaxed during the training. So the session was mindfullness for me at the same time as a technical training”. For me as a coach this was music in my ears.
